Mahogany is widely used for the back and sides of acoustic guitars. Mahogany is strong and stable with a bright, open tone. It can also be used to the top of a guitar to give it a bright, loud sound and warm, woody look.
Khaya is an beautiful species of Mahogany from Africa. It is very similar to the traditional Honduran/Brazilian Mahogany in its look and sonic properties. It bends into sides well and is easy to work with.
