Mahogany is widely used for the bodies of electric guitars. It is a strong stable timber with a bright, open tone. Gibson use Mahogany for the bodies of most of their electric guitars, often with a carved maple cap such as is used on Les Paul models.
Khaya is an beautiful species of Mahogany from Africa. It is very similar to the traditional Honduran/Brazilian Mahogany in its look, weight, workability and sonic properties. It is easy to work with and machines and sands well.
These body blanks are dried, thickness sanded and ready to use in an electric guitar or bass.
