American Rock Maple has been the choice of timber for Fender electric guitars forever. It has become the mainstay of bolt-on neck guitars from all brands. The wood is hard but carves well. The grain direction overall is straight so they are strong and stable. The blanks are dry and ready to use. The blanks big enough to make neck with a separate fingerboard, but slightly too thin to make a one-piece maple neck. The fingerboard can be made of another timber such as Rosewood or Ebony. - 2nd Grade - For neck with separate fingerboard - Minimum Dimensions - 96mm x 24mm x 685mm (3-3/4" x 15/16" x 27")
Rock maple is a very hard, light-coloured timber which grows in Northern America. It is ideal for necks and can be used for one-piece necks with the fingerboard as part of the neck. A lacquer should always be applied over a maple fingerboard to prevent staining from dirt.
