This neck plate design was developed by Leo Fender in the 1940s and has remained basically the same since, being used on countless models by Fender® and other brands. It is a simple but very effective way of screwing a bolt-on neck onto a guitar. The steel plate spreads out the load of the 4 screws and holds the heads securely. The 'Relic' series of hardware from Gotoh has been aged using various processes to make it look as close as possible to the hardware on a well-worn vintage guitar. The aged appearance is purely aesthetic and the parts function as new. These parts are perfect for replacing the worn out original parts on vintage guitars or to give a new guitar some character. - 'Relic' aged finish - Fender® style - Used on many models - Standard hole spacing - Chrome plated - Includes 4 mounting screws - Made in Japan Gotoh guitar and bass parts are some of the highest quality components available. Considering the price Gotoh is an excellent choice for any new instrument or replacement.

When drilling a body and neck on a new guitar It's best to drill a 3mm pilot hole for the screws in the body and neck.

After this hole has been drilled it should be widened out to 4.5mm in the body holes to allow the thread of the screw to move freely in these. This will prevent the neck screws from getting caught in the holes in the body.

A little soap on the thread of the screw will make it much easier to screw in, especially in hard maple.
