These high-quality tuners made by Gotoh Japan make a great choice of custom builds. They are also a drop in replacement for some PRS models and older Gibson Les Paul, SG and other models. They can be used on modern Gibson and Epiphone guitars, but converter bushes must be used (sold separately) - Set of 6 - 3 Left 3 Right - Rear string locking (Magnum Lock Traditional) - Vintage reproduction - Nickel plated - Maintenance-free - Greenish-cream 'keystone' buttons - 1:15 Gear ratio - Require 8.8mm (11/32") hole - Include mounting screws & press-fit bushes Locking tuners have a mechanism which locks the string in place. This eliminates the need to wind the string around the post, reduces tuning problems and speeds up restringing. There are two types of locking tuners, front-locking and rear-locking. Rear-locking are easier to use than front-locking but are not available with height adjustable posts. Gotoh brand guitar hardware is known for its quality and durability, making it an excellent choice for any new guitar or replacement.

REPLACING TUNERS - If you are replacing the existing tuners on a guitar it's important to check a few things to ensure you get the best fitting set -

1) Hole Diameter - Most tuners used in electric or acoustic guitars will either fit a hole around 8.8mm or a hole 10-10.5mm. If the tuners don't match the hole you will need to either drill the holes larger or use converter bushes. Generally 8.8mm holes are used for vintage style tuners with push-in bushes while 10-10.5mm holes fit tuners with screw-in bushes.

2) Bushes - Some tuners have push-in bushes, these are not screwed into the tuner but are a tight fit in the hole in the wood. The other type are screw-in bushes with washers, these are screwed in to the main tuner to hold it in place. It's better to choose a set with the same type of bushes to make fitting more straightforward.

3) Screw Holes - Some tuners have 2 screws and some have 1 screw. The 2-hole variety with one screw in the middle of each end of the housing are a standard format. If your tuners have one screw pay very careful attention to the position of this screw. There are 4 different positions this screw can be in depending on the brand of tuners and if you choose a set of tuner with the correct screw position it will eliminate the need to drill new holes in the guitar. The position of the screw is indicated in the description and can also be seen in the photos. If your tuners have a screw position that isn't available you will need to drill new holes to install a new set.
