These planes were designed by Irving Sloane specifically for instrument making. The combination of small size and a rounded base is perfectly suited to carving and scalloping bracing, carving tops/backs for archtop instruments and many other lutherie applications. They are made in USA to a very polished standard and are finished off more like a piece of jewellery than a tool. Adjustment is effortless due to the brass thumbscrew and the Chrome Vanadium blade takes a very sharp edge and lasts well between sharpens. Smaller planes have a tighter radius and are good for carving scallops in braces and tight areas of plates. Bigger planes are better for carving long runs on braces and more gradual curves in plates. - 47mm long - 18mm blade width - Convex base - Made in USA - Made from durable silicon brass - Chrome Vanadium blade is extremely hard and holds a very sharp edge - Easy and accurate thumbscrew blade adjustment
