- Precise, sharp point - Suitable for marking inlays and screw holes - 40mm long tip - 110mm total length - High-carbon steel pointed tip - Timber handle - High quality & precise This precision pointed tool is perfect for marking inlays and starting screw holes. The fine tip is used to trace the outline of pearl inlay pieces into the timber prior to it being routed to fit the inlay. The sharp line given is more precise than that of a pen or pencil. The point is perfect for creating a centred ‘pilot hole’ for starting screws off for tuners, pickguards etc. Once marked this hole can be enlarged using a drill if needed.

For Inlay Tracing
The sharp point is used to transfer the shape of the inlay into the wood being inlaid.

Hold the inlay in place and use the tip of the scribe around the edges until a visible line is left.

This scribing can be done directly into the wood, or white ‘Liquid Paper’ (correction fluid) can be applied first for a more distinct outline.
The correction fluid can remain in the grain of the wood after and require extra sanding so use with caution, especially on deep-grained timbers.

For Screw Pilot Scribing
Simply hold the tip in the centre of where the screw goes and press to leave a neat hole to start the screw.

For harder timbers and bigger screws it is advisable to enlarge the hole with a drill bit to avoid cracking the wood or stripping the screw.
