These high quality pickups are used by many or the world's leading archtop guitar builders. Not to be confused with the mass-produced pickups which are made under the Kent Armstrong brand, these are the true hand-wound pickups Kent builds himself in the USA. Kent Armstrong has been making pickups for many years and has gained solid a reputation for building some of the best pickups in the world. Kent Armstrong PAF-0 model pickups are known among luthiers and guitarists for it's superlative tone. The sound is warm and rich with great clarity and string selection. These 'floating' pickups are attached to the underside of the pickguard of an archtop guitar using epoxy glue. (see instructions below) They are an excellent choice for a new build of an archtop jazz guitar, or as an upgrade for the the pickup supplied on an existing guitar. These pickups are mounted by gluing the bracket to the underside of the pickguard of an archtop guitar.

The bracket should be glued using strong epoxy glue. It is important that the height and angle of the pickup is set correctly so it is the correct distance under the strings. Some rebating of the back of the pickguard may be necessary

It is usually necessary to cut a small section of the pickguard away to fit the end of the pickguard in.

Once installed the pickup can be soldered to the pot or jack using the supplied wire. They work best with 500k pots.
