Details

Using good quality screws reduces the risk of the heads shearing off or being marred by a screwdriver.

It's best to drill a 3mm pilot hole for the screws in the body and neck. After this hole has been drilled it should be widened out to 4.5mm in the body holes to allow the thread of the screw to move freely in these. This will prevent the neck screws from getting caught in the holes in the body.

A little soap on the thread of the screw will make it much easier to screw in, especially in hard maple.
