The high quality Spool Clamps are made from steel rod with maple spools, padded with cork to reduce denting of top or back and increase grip. One set is enough for most repair jobs but to clamp an entire top or back takes 20-24 clamps so order order 5-6 sets for a whole guitar. When using with a jig, only one spool is necessary per clamp. In this case the spare spool can be drilled and used with a piece of threaded rod and nuts (available from a fasteners store) to make another clamp. When used this way only half the number of clamps need to be purchased.
