These glue-resistant Teflon strips are used to create a channel to inlay abalone purflings and rosettes.
A teflon filler strip should be glued in place with a timber or plastic purling either side of it, once the purflings are levelled the filler strip is removed leaving a channel of the correct size to fit the shell strips.
