These were the original type of truss rods first developed by Gibson. They are probably the most used type of truss rod to this day.
Traditional truss rods are installed in a curve shaped slot in the neck. These truss rods are light and simple and are preferred by many guitar factories and luthiers.
When the nut is tightened the rod is tensioned and pulls the neck the opposite way, counteracting the tension of the strings.
