Cloth covered push-back wire has been used on American guitars from Gibson and Fender for decades. It is preferred by many guitar makers and technicians.
Push-back wire is easy to use and robust. The insulation is made from springy cloth and can be pushed back exposing the inner conductive wire, this eliminates the need to strip the ends of the wire. The insulation is also resistant to damage from a soldering iron.
The shielded version has a loose copper outer shielding which can be pushed back at the ends exposing the wire inside.
