Tuning pegs are tapered in in a slight cone shape, so it's important to make a matching tapered hole for them. This tool is perfect for getting the holes sized and shaped. The three razor-sharp blades effortlessly shave away the inside of the hole until it's the perfect size for the peg. No more loose or stuck pegs! As pegs can sometimes be a little out of shape when they are manufactured or wear over time, it's best to use our Tuning Peg Shaver to get the pegs to a precise taper and diameter before reaming the holes for them. - Made by Juzek in USA - 1:30 taper - For most most violin, viola and flamenco guitar pegs - Tapers from 5.0mm (0.21") Dia. to 9.5mm (0.37") Dia. - Pinned timber handle, - Hardened steel reamer - 185mm (7.5") Length, 89mm (3.50") Handle

It's best to start with a hole drilled a little smaller than the smallest end of the tapered peg.

Simply insert the reamer and turn the handle. As it shaves the inside of the hole out bigger it will slowly drop into the hole. Go slowly as it works very effectively.

Keep checking the hole until you get the prefect fit and position for your peg.

Once you know the perfect position along the reamer for one peg you can use some masking tape to mark the position so you can do the other holes to the same size.
