- High-quality Epoxy - For inlay & grain filling - Thin viscosity - 20-minute working time, 6-hours until fully cured - Dries very clear - Forms less bubbles than regular epoxy - Cures hard - Minimal sinking after curing - Sands easily - Can be mixed with timber dust or Tempera to colour - Made in USA - 4oz contains 2oz bottles of Hardener and Resin - 4oz is enough for a few guitars Directions below This is the best epoxy we have found for filling around inlays and for grain filling on Rosewoods and other hard, grainy timbers. It's very thin compared to most epoxies and penetrates into narrow cracks around inlays without forming bubbles. It can be mixed with wood dust or Tempera powder to form a coloured filler for inlaying. It also cures harder than most epoxies and doesn't sink as much after levelling flat.
For Inlay -

Mix equal parts thoroughly, then add fine timber dust or black Tempera powder (for Ebony) to create a filler to match the timber being inlaid into.

Dust can be produced by sanding a scrap of timber with 180-240 grit sandpaper. Mix enough dust so the mixture is opaque.

Fill the inlay cavity with the resin and insert the inlay. cover with more mixture if any gaps are observed.

A warm lamp (not hot) can help cure the Epoxy quicker and eliminate bubbles.

For Grain Filling - Suitable mostly for Rosewood and other very hard timbers with grain. Check suitability on a scrap before proceeding on the actual instrument. Suitable for French Polish, Nitrocellulose, Waterbased Lacquer and most other finishes.

Mix equal parts thoroughly.

Use a single-sided razor blade with a very small amount and 'squeegee' along the grain in long, overlapping passes in the direction of the grain.

Aim for minimal residue on the surface of the timber.

Once dry sand off excess and repeat if necessary, or apply finish.
