- Accurately measures neck relief and straightness - For acoustic and electric guitar - Digital readout in metric or inches - Battery included - Gauge accurate to 0.01mm (0.001") - Easy to read - Works with new or worn frets - Made of aluminum for stability - 12" (305mm) long This gauge allows for fast and accurate measurement of the straightness and relief of a guitar neck. This allows for a better setup and more consistent playability without fret buzz along the fretboard. The relief measurement is shown on the digital readout. This can be checked as you adjust the truss rod. It accurately measures the amount of neck relief (slight dip along the length of the fingerboard) to take the guesswork out of adding or subtracting relief as you adjust the truss rod. Basic instructions for use below
How to use:

1) Zero the Neck Relief Gauge on an accurate flat plate or surface
2) Rest the ends directly on the 1st and 12th frets with the gauge on the 5th or 6th fret
3) Adjust the truss rod - The dial will read the relief in thousands of an inch
4) A measurement of 0.15mm-0.25mm (0.006"-0.010")is ideal, depending on the guitar and action height

As a general rule, if the guitar has more fret buzz at the nut end the neck needs more relief. If the fret buzz is on the higher frets the saddle should be raised.

Balancing the saddle height and the neck relief will allow for a perfect action with less fret buzz along all the frets.
