These bridge pins are made from genuine bone. Each pin is turned to exacting specifications and polished. Bone has an attractive off-white colour with a natural grain and slightly mottled appearance. The material is dense and hard-wearing and reported to have superior acoustic properties. The pins make an excellent, high-quality alternative to white plastic. The unslotted pins do not have the slot for the string. This means more of the string is under the top of the guitar when the pin is inserted. This arrangement is reported to enhance the sound of a guitar. Usually the slot in the bridge of the guitar, at the front of the hole for the bridge pin, needs enlarging to make room for the string when unslotted bridge pins are used. - Solid Bone with Paua Abalone dot - Set of 6 - Unslotted - Standard size (dimensions below) - Fits most guitar brands - 3 Degree taper Dimensions - - 5.3mm diameter at widest part of taper - 4mm diameter at narrowest part of taper - 8mm diameter at widest part of head - 30.5mm total length - 23mm length of tapered peg *Since the bridge pins are handmade, there can be a variation in size of plus or minus 0.5mm

Bridge pins have a taper and the hole in the bridge should have a matching taper to ensure a good fit. This taper can be made with a bridge pin reamer. If you are replacing the pins on an existing guitar the holes will likely not need any reaming but occasionally they do need reaming to get a good fit.
