REPLACING TUNERS - If you are replacing the existing tuners on a guitar it's important to check a few things to ensure you get the best fitting set -
1) Hole Diameter - Most tuners used in electric or acoustic guitars will either fit a hole around 8.8mm or a hole 10-10.5mm. If the tuners don't match the hole you will need to either drill the holes larger or use converter bushes. Generally 8.8mm holes are used for vintage style tuners with push-in bushes while 10-10.5mm holes fit tuners with screw-in bushes.
2) Hole Spacing - Most tuners mounted 3 to a plate have a standard spacing of 35mm centre to centre. If this spacing does not match the tuners they won't fit.
3) Bushes - Some tuners have push-in bushes, these are not screwed into the tuner but are a tight fit in the hole in the wood. The other type are screw-in bushes with washers, these are screwed in to the main tuner to hold it in place. It's better to choose a set with the same type of bushes to make fitting more straightforward.
