These Japanese-made wood drills are in a whole other league of precision and sharpness. They’re by far the best drill bits we have used for guitar work. The blades which cut the hole are razor sharp and super precise, meaning the holes they make are very clean. In most cases even the ‘exit hole’ is cut clean with no chips or tear out. The needle-like tip can be centred much more accurately than a standard drill bit. It also stays in place and doesn’t wander. They are ideal for drilling fingerboard dots, holes for tuners and bridge pin holes. (more info below about sizing) - Made in Japan - Drill for dots or tuners (see below) - Ultra sharp - Little or no chipping - Brad-point (dowel drill) - Easy to centre - Does not wander - Hexagonal shafts - Precision machined - High Speed Steel

Instructions

The drill bits can be used in either a drill-press or hand drill. it is recommended tuner holes and bridge pin holes are drilled on a drill-press with he headstock clamped or in a vice.

To drill holes with a hand drill start off at a very slow pace until the point of the drillbit find its way and then drill faster.

A piece of masking tape makes a good depth stop for drilling fingerboard dots. Superglue or epoxy should be used to glue the dots in place.

Fingerboard dots are usually installed before the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th (double), 15th and 17th frets. It is optional to install on the 1st, 19th, 21st and 24th (double) frets.
