A bridge plate sits below the bridge inside the top of an acoustic guitar. The bridge plate on a steel-string guitar should be made from a hard timber. A hard bridge plate helps resist the wear of the ball-ends of the strings which rub against the area during stringing and playing the guitar. These bridge plate blanks are made from quality straight-grained American Maple. They are oversized and can be cut down to the size and shape needed for most acoustic guitars, they can also be cut down smaller for other instruments. - Minimum size 190mm x 60mm x 3mm (7 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 1/8") - Quality hard American Maple - Rectangular blank - Well machined
This bridge plate stock can be cut down to the size and shape dictated by the bracing plan of the guitar being built. It is a good practice to bevel the ends of the bridge plate and cut a matching bevel in the x-braces to create a strong joint and lock down the ends of the bridgeplate.
