- Presses whole fret in one operation - Strong steel construction - Includes 4 padded neck presses - Pivoting head for easy alignment - Easy to use - 320mm total length Available individually or as a set with 6", 7.25", 9.5", 10", 12", 14", 16", 20" & Flat cauls. Pressing in frets is the most consistent way to get every fret seated along its whole length. Pressing frets into a guitar fingerboard is quicker than hammering them. It also has the advantage that the entire fret is pressed in one operation, eliminating the possibility that an end will not be seated right or the fret will be deformed by the hammer. The Handheld Fret Press is a professional fretting tool that gives you fine control over the pressure needed to seat a fret into the slot. It eliminates complicated clamping setups, so your press-in fret jobs go faster. It fits a range of brass inserts which are available in different radii to suit all guitar fingerboards. It works the same way as pliers, squeezing the fret in as you pull the handles together. It has a fine thumbwheel adjustment for clamping pressure. A clamp release lever unlocks the tool. The jaws open enough to accommodate any instrument neck. There's a self-levelling upper caul that adjusts easily to any neck and it fits a range of brass Fret Press Inserts, which are available in different radii to suit all guitar fingerboards (more info below). Four different padded neck rests are included for acoustic guitar, classical guitar and mandolin/ukulele necks as well as a flat dest for unshaped necks and fingerboards.

To use the Handheld Fret Press start by adjusting the separation of the jaws. They should be just the right width so the press pulls the fret all the way in but not so tight to put excessive pressure on the neck. You may need to readjust the tool as you move up the neck and it gets thicker.

Once the tool is adjusted line up the fret with the slot int he fingerboard and push it in.

A small amount of Titebond glue can be applied to the tang of the fret before insertion. This is more of a sealant than an adhesive and it also reduces the chance of chipping during later refretting.

Some common radiuses are -
Fender electric guitars and basses - 7.25”, 9.5”, 10” & 12”
Gibson guitars and basses - 12”
Martin acoustic guitars - 16”
Ibanez electric guitars - 16”
Classical guitars - Flat & 20"
Ukuleles - Flat, 16" & 20"
The 6" insert works well to hold the ends of a fret down during gluing
