Indian Rosewood is the most popular fingerboard material with guitar making factories. It has been used by most guitar companies for many decades. It is also a popular choice among luthiers due to it's beauty, stability, acoustic properties and workability.
These blanks are cut from the finest Indian Rosewood, they are dry and ready to slot and process into fingerboards.
Grading is based purely on aesthetic considerations and lower grade fingerboards can make just as good a sounding and functioning guitar as the higher grades - The first grade timber has a darker, more even colour and is generally more quartersawn with straighter grain. The second grade can be lighter coloured with some streaking, pinholes or small knots. Some luthiers prefer the look of the second grade as it has more character.
