Mahogany is widely used for the back and sides of acoustic guitars. Mahogany is strong and stable with a bright, open tone. It can also be used to the top of a guitar to give it a bright, loud sound and warm, woody look.
Khaya is an beautiful species of Mahogany from Africa. It is very similar to the traditional Honduran/Brazilian Mahogany in its look and sonic properties. It bends into sides well and is easy to work with.
The backs and sides are straight grained and quartersawn. They are dry and ready to use in a guitar.
Backs - 2 x halves, minimum 560mm x 210mm x 2.5mm (22" x 8 3/8" x 3/32")
Sides - 2 x pieces minimum 860mm x 120mm x 2.5mm (33 3/4" x 4 13/16" x 3/32")
