These blanks are suitable for cutting all types or bracing. It is conventional to use German Spruce for the bracing of acoustic guitars with Sitka Spruce or Western Red Cedar tops. Sitka is considered by most makers of classical guitars to be too stiff and German Spruce is preferred for these. These blanks are also suitable for the bracing and blocks in a Weissenborn, mandolin or bouzouki. The second grade blanks have a wider grain spacing than the first grade. Some makers prefer the finer grain of the first grade blanks while others don't mind a wider grain spacing. - Straight grained and quartersawn from split billets - Minimum size 50mm x 20mm x 510mm (2" x 3/4" x 20") - Dried and ready for use Please note - Brace stock is sold by the piece, generally multible pieces are needed for one guitar - Steel string acoustic top - 2 pieces Steel string acoustic back - 1 piece Classical guitar top - 1-2 pieces (depending on bracing pattern)
Sitka grows in abundance in north USA, Alaska and Canada though only a small percentage of trees are suitable for guitar timber.
