These blanks are suitable for cutting all types or bracing. It is conventional to use German Spruce for the bracing of acoustic guitars with Sitka Spruce or Western Red Cedar tops. Sitka is considered by most makers of classical guitars to be too stiff and German Spruce is preferred for these.
These blanks are also suitable for the bracing and blocks in a Weissenborn, mandolin or bouzouki.
The second grade blanks have a wider grain spacing than the first grade. Some makers prefer the finer grain of the first grade blanks while others don't mind a wider grain spacing.
