Top or Back = 2 x bookmatched halves with thickness 3.0mm and minimum 361mm (length) x 126mm (Width) Sides = 2 x pieces with thickness 1.8mm and minimum 520mm (length) x 74.5mm (Width) - Back, tops & sides to build a soprano, concert or tenor ukulele - Top or Back pieces can be used for either top or back - Dried and ready to use - Photos in darker shade are photographed with alcohol applied to surface to replicate finished colour Tasmania Blackwood is possibly the most successful and famous Australian guitar timber. Its beautiful grain and acoustic qualities have made it a prized timber for the backs, sides and tops of acoustic instruments including ukuleles. The timber is medium weight, resonant and relatively easy to work with. Backs/tops and sides are available for separate purchase. It is common to use the same timber for the top as for the back and sides of a ukulele, in this case order two Tops/Backs and one set of Sides. If you are use using a different timber for the top, order one Top/Back and one set of Sides.
