These were the original type of truss rods first developed by Gibson. They are probably the most used type of truss rod to this day. Traditional truss rods are installed in a curve shaped slot in the neck. These truss rods are light and simple and are preferred by many guitar factories and luthiers. When the nut is tightened the rod is tensioned and pulls the neck the opposite way, counteracting the tension of the strings. - Fender® style with bullet shaped nut - Adjusts with 1/8" Allen Key - Length 18" (460mm) - Dia. 3/16" (5mm) - Weight 72 grams - Includes bullet nut - Fender® style with cross nut - For Fender® style bolt-on necks - Adjustment nut at heel end - Length 18" (460mm) - Dia. 3/16" (5mm) - Weight 72 grams - Includes cross nut
Traditional Truss Rods are installed into a channel in the neck with a curved bottom. It's important to have this curve or the truss rod won't work.

The channel should be made using a router or table saw with a curved jig attached.

The truss rod is installed with a matching curved fillet of wood glued over the top of it.

The anchor point at one end and the nut at the other end must have solid wood to push against for the rod to go into tension properly.
