Replacing Tuners On a Strat - Locking VS Non-locking
One of our customers recently asked:
'Hi, I’m looking at replacing my USA American standard Strat stock tuners...
Do you recommend these SD91? I am trying to source the same that is on Xotic XSC guitars... they offer locking and non-locking... When your listing says “locking” what does that mean?
Also, Will they “drop in” or will I need to drill out the headstock or oppositely add bushings?
Cheers, Lenny

Thank you for your Message Lenny,
The Gotoh SD91 series tuners will be a drop in fit for that guitar, meaning you don't need to drill any new holes.
Locking means that the string gets locked in place when you are changing strings. This means you don't need to give the string the extra slack you usually do to allow it to wrap around the post and get a grip. It allows for quicker string changing and better tuning stability.
The tuners on the Xotic guitar are the 'front-locking' type (Gotoh SD91-05MN-HAPM). We also have the rear-locking type available (Gotoh SD91-05MN-MGT). The rear-lockers are a bit more user friendly and quick to change strings.
