African Mahogany Electric Guitar Neck Blanks

Mahogany has been used for the necks of electric guitars since their development. It is most often used in Gibson-style set necks but works well for Fender-style bolt on necks. Khaya is an beautiful species of Mahogany from Africa. It is very similar to the traditional Honduran/Brazilian Mahogany in its look, density and sonic properties. The timber is medium-density, stable and strong. It has straight grain and carves and sands easily. The blanks are dry and ready to use. Grading is based purely on the aesthetic appearance. 1st grade pieces are as free from imperfections as possible and are close to quartersawn. Lower grade pieces are downgraded due to some flaw such as discolouration, minor warpage, small knots or being off quartersawn. The neck blanks are large enough for a bolt-on neck with a separate fingerboard.
