Our Precision Router Base is an absolute must have tool for any luthier or guitar repairer. It turns a Dremel or other rotary tool into a mini router with a range of uses including routing inlay cavities, routing rosette trenches and widening fret slots. Assembly is simple and takes only seconds as the Dremel or similar tool screws straight into the base. The depth of the route can be precisely adjusted using two thumb wheels. One rotation of the thumbwheels equals a 0.04” (1mm) change in the depth of the cut. - Designed especially for stringed instrument work - Allows for controlled freehand routing - Easy to install - Perfect for routing for inlays & rosettes - Fits our Soundhole and Rosette Routing Jig - High-quality & sturdy - Brass, aluminium and machined steel construction

Very accurate cavities can be created for Mother of Pearl and Abalone inlays, making for a better fit and less need for filler.

It is recommended to use the Precision Router Base in combination with our Downcut Inlay Router Bits. This will give the cleanest and most accurate cut. The smaller diameter bits can be used for cutting tight corners while the larger bits are better for removing larger areas of wood.

For cutting soundhole rosette channels simply attach our Soundhole and Rosette Jig (available separately) to the base. This allows for perfect circles to be routed in a guitar top quickly and accurately.

The built-in air nozzle allows a small air pump or low-pressure compressor to be fitted to blow dust away. An aquarium pump is ideal for this task.
