Pressing in frets is the most consistent way to get every fret seated along its whole length. The Fret Press Caul fits in an arbour press or heavy-duty drill press. It fits a range of brass Fret Press Inserts, which are available in different radii to suit all guitar fingerboards (more info below). The system makes pressing in frets quick and effortless. Pressing frets into a guitar fingerboard is quicker than hammering them. It also has the advantage that the entire fret is pressed in one operation, eliminating the possibility that an end will not be seated right or the fret will be deformed by the hammer. - Presses whole fret in one operation - Strong steel construction - Available individually or as a set - 3/8" (10mm) shank fits most arbour presses - Pivoting head for easy alignment - Easy to use
We recommend a very hard, flat base such as steel or a clay paver be used under the fingerboard to eliminate the chance of guillotining the fingerboard.

A small amount of Titebond glue can be applied to the tang of the fret before insertion. This is more of a sealant than an adhesive and it also reduces the chance of chipping during later refretting.

Some common radiuses are -
Fender electric guitars and basses - 7.25”, 9.5”, 10” & 12”
Gibson guitars and basses - 12”
Martin acoustic guitars - 16”
Ibanez electric guitars - 16”
Classical guitars - Flat & 20"
Ukuleles - Flat, 16" & 20"
The 6" insert works well to hold the ends of a fret down during gluing
