These Fret Removing Pliers are designed specifically for pulling frets. They are used to remove frets from fingerboards with little or no damage. The fret pullers have special flush ground jaws which can easily bite in under the fret and support the fingerboard to stop chipping of the timber along the edge of the fret slot. Removal is best achieved by lifting the fret a little at a time across it's length. This should be repeated until the fret is removed. - 105mm (4-1/8") length - 12.5mm (1/2") wide jaws - Specially designed flattened head (For pulling frets, not cutting) - Hardened steel blades - Comfortable rubber-coated plastic handles

To use the Fret Removing Pliers line the jaws up with the bottom of the fret. Start at one end of the fret and gently put pressure on the pliers until the end lifts a little.

Once you have the end of the fret lifted a little, carefully and gently lever the fret out along it’s length. Try not to pull on the fret too much, instead use the pliers to pop it out while supporting the timber fingerboard along the fret slot.

A little wiggling of the pliers once you have the fret gripped can help loosen it and reduce chipping.

The fingerboard will almost always get some chips. These can either be glued down with epoxy or superglue, or they can be filled with a mix of epoxy and fine sanding dust from the fingerboard.
