These versatile and accurate templates can be used for setting out the position of frets, and as a template for slotting fingerboards on a table saw, or with our Fret Slotting Mitre Box. (see note below)
The templates nave the position of the frets etched into them and a set of 1.6mm notches along the edge, which fit an index pin and are used to align the template for fast and accurate fret slotting.
Table Saw Method - Attach a template to the back of the fingerboard, and saw each fret slot after locating the index pin. An index pin is not included, the smooth end of a 1/16" drill bit can be used as an index pin. A cross-cutting fence should be used on the table saw, with the index pin inserted in the fence.
Mitre Box Method - Attach a template to the back of the fingerboard, and saw each fret slot after locating the index pin of the Fret Slotting Mitre Box. The templates are narrower than the width of the mitre box, so a packer should be used to make up the width and hold the template/fingerboard firmly in place.
